Many Colored Rush Tyrant

Many-colored Rush Tyrant · Peruvian Andes

Many-colored Rush Tyrant found at Lake Titicaca where I spent two days photographing this beauty belongs to the highland subspecies Tachuris rubrigastra alticola. The photo was taken on May 14, 2014 at 7:26AM on the western shores of the lake while hunting small insects amongst the flooded totora reed beds and cattail beds. A very energetic and hyper bird was a challenging subject as it rarely sat still enough for a perfect shot. This tiny bird was barely 4” in size.
